A popular Manchester food spot is winning over customers far from home after showcasing its pizzas at an international food festival more than 4,000 miles away.
Dough Club, which first opened in Withington in September 2024, has built a loyal following for its halal Detroit-style pizzas — deep-dish, rectangular slices with a thick, chewy crust. The restaurant has since expanded rapidly, opening additional sites on Oxford Road near Manchester Royal Infirmary and in Cheadle Hulme.
Now, the growing brand has taken its food overseas, appearing at the Qatar International Food Festival in Doha. Running until January 24, the festival features more than 40 international restaurants and food outlets, with Dough Club among those attracting significant attention.
Videos shared on the restaurant’s Instagram account show staff working flat-out in a packed kitchen as long queues form outside. In one clip, a member of staff apologises to a waiting customer after selling out for the day.
“Everyone had the same idea as you,” he says. “There was never a spare moment at the till.”
The overseas success follows strong reviews at home. In October 2024, the Manchester dish praised Dough Club’s “light and airy” focaccia-based dough and bold selection of toppings — acclaim that appears to be translating well beyond Greater Manchester.
With queues forming thousands of miles from its original site, Dough Club’s international appearance signals growing recognition for Manchester’s independent food scene on the global stage.
