Manchester-based virtual production firm SilverScape has secured a six-figure investment from the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II), managed by River Capital and GC Business Finance.
Founded in 2021 by industry veterans Ian Armstrong and Simon Binns, SilverScape blends LED wall technology, camera tracking, and game engine software to deliver immersive, low-carbon virtual production for the advertising and film sectors. The company’s innovations allow for global scene creation without the environmental or financial cost of traditional location shoots.
The funding will bolster strategic marketing and branding efforts and support studio rental, analytics, immersive experiences, and post-production services. SilverScape is also working with local universities to offer entry-level roles and grow talent within Greater Manchester’s thriving digital and creative economy.
With partnerships including ITV, the firm is positioning itself as a leader in sustainable production, claiming its technology can cut carbon emissions by up to 70%.
